Ranked #165 in the Soul Strut 200

Private psych holy grail that caused quite a stir on here back in the day.   Donald "D.R." Hooker was an acid gobbling hippie turned Jesus freak (check the gear on the front cover!).  Hooker recruited local Connecticut musicians just moments before he set foot in the studio, adding a campy, whimsical flavor to the album.   It's truly an oddball masterpiece that's not just fuzz rock, but also folk, jazz, and soul.  The album is rare, rare, rare with a reported 99 copies in existence. Thankfully, the reissue gods have made this widely available for generations to enjoy.  Check out tracks like the gentle groover "Forge Your Own Chains", the jazzy "Weather Girl",  and the fuzz rock opener "The Sea".
