Ranked #188 in the Soul Strut 200
Indiana's Rhythm Machine were a tightly polished horn driven soul and funk show band in the mid 70s. Their previous incarnation The Highlighters were featured on the legendary Funky 16 Corners comp released by Stones Throw. In 1976, they released the mythically rare indie released self-titled debut that emulated the uptempo disco funk of Chocolate Milk and the Blackbyrds. Its rarity and the highly coveted soul ballad "Put A Smile On Time" made this album a high $$$ attraction making many want lists on Soul Strut. Thankfully, Egon's Nowagain label reissued the endeavor and made it accessible to all in 2012.
