    Fantasia LP (1980)

    Bruton Music

This is the library version of drummer, Brian Bennett's Voyage album. Released on Bruton Music under the title Fantasia, the recording is described as "An electronic suite not conforming to the usual rules of music but comprising various airs and movements according to the composers creative inspiration". The song "Discovery" (titled “Solstice” on “Voyage”), is the track to check out because it’s “an environment of unreality to an unresolved conclusion" (?). This track always gets a mention wherever there’s a discussion about songs that predated hip-hop which sound like hip-hop. High & Mighty, Nas and many others have sampled this and it’s up there in my books as an all-time classic library tune, smooth and funky.
