I am an exotica head (feel free to hatt). Hadn't heard this Puente record yet and it's amazing. Another amazing exotrica find is Night in Cairo. Bellydance record with only percussion and moog. Exotica hatters will have a field day hatting on this (and secretly sample the shit out of it).

I like the Carol Woods record too. It's not raer I guess?

That Oimels record is something else! Whooah. It wasn't cheap but to me it's kind of essential sitar kraut stuff.

Don't know how this really works it is kind of a clusterfuck but I traded myself for this. It was snatched up yesterday on a call-in collection....

Lovelites_Uni_album.jpg

(not the actual copy)

Easily one of the best soul records I've ever heard.

I brought in a couple $75-100 records from the home stash to compensate for the loss

The Click - "Scandalous".

have you played the accapella on this? my copy is so quiet you can't even use it. Just checkin' if it's the press or just my copy.

I've always had a love affair with it since sneaking off with friends as 6 year old kids and riding 'til the end of the lines. I don't feel that far removed from those times 28 years later. Just now it's records instead of Japanese models.

you were chilling w/ japanese models on the bus when you were 6??? were they child models? or did you just date older women during your elementary school years?

amazing looking stuff kevin. would love to sit around and check out those tunes on a rainy fall afternoon in _____ (insert your favorite photo of scarborough as you often do, gotta respect the pride)

Nice finds, Ari. You know you're more than welcome to visit any time you want.

IS the Noel Ellis the LP or the 12"? Either way, deep stuff. That label has quite a rich story.

Don't know the Lighthouse 12". SOunfile?

I can see Detroit having some reggae links as many older Jamaicans made frequent visits (most looking for indy Detroit soul 45's).

a couple things I found today

dennisbrown_howcanileave12.JPG

Nice Gibbs/Brown version of a studio 1 killer (Sharks version is
melt.gif

Sporty was there for the genesis of Studio 1, wrote tunes for Marley/Wailers, made some killer indy funk jams in Miami (the Oceanliners are his band)..and married BEtty Wright. He sings this tune perfectly.

marciagriffiths_giveandyoullget45.JPG

freddomsuite_comecloser45.JPG

Dope trini disco jam that my friend Dimitri is a big fan of.

toolate_blacksugar45.JPG

Arrived in the mail today. Latin/modern soul (the true definition, ie Jinx and my definition modern soul) jam.

K in Canada.

The funny thing is, if I could just have ONE DAY of finds like K has EVERY DAY, I would be happy for years...

Couple of cheap in-store digs today:

83_1_b.JPG

Only the second Soca LP I have ever bought - I like it more than the other one (which was a Tabu Combo All-Stars), but I have to admit I like it more when they stray from the pure Soca sound, like on "Disco Reggae."

B000066C11.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Don't know why I didn't already own this. "Family Affair" is
hard2.gif

Also, Gladys Knight & the Pips - Love Overboard 12" extended/instro...I sweat that song...it gets heavy play on my local "classic soul" station, and I always crank it up and rock the duet with GK. That and "Second Time Around" by Shalamar are my shit.

Came home from work and found a couple of e-digs in my mailbox:

Both cheap from the same seller, and, with all the eBay venting we do around here, let's have a little appreciation for those rare sellers who make records sound pretty beat, and they show up pristine! The Joe Thomas was listed as if it were trashed, but it was real cheap and I threw it in buy-it-now cause I had won the Mirettes in auction. Shit shows up cover in the shrinkwrap, record looks unplayed just has fingerprints on it, prolly from the dude I bought it from! Plays mint!

Give it up for the under-graders!

Give it up for the under-graders!
Truth. I got the records I posted above (plus alot more) from a dealer/collector who is very extreme in wanting his records to be mint. When there's any mark on it, it has to go. It is almost freaky, like he has some childhood trauma and needs clean things around him. To him it's not worth anything if there's the slightest mark and he's glad to sell it for 1/2 of the ebay price. He lives in my mother's street so I knock on his door every now and then to help him get rid of all the "unclean" stuff. He is "mister Under-grader" and many records I have that normally are out of my league, I can get from him.

Soul on Ice- I've been listening to that Mirettes "whirlpool" lp a helluva lot lately, nice one.

Just one in the mail today (from TREW)

A few 45s today:
Luther Ingram - If Lovin' You Is Wrong...
The Yardbirds - Little Games
Dionne Warwick - I'll Never Fall In Love Again (German Pic Sleeve)
Percy Sledge - My Special Prayer (German Pic Sleeve)

3 Chubby Checker 45's
Diana Ross, The Supremes & Temptations - Rhythm Of Life

Was sniped on this
e1_1.jpg

by someone from either Italy, Greece, or Japan (whenever I'm sniped or ridiculously outbid they are no doubt always from these places) It bummed me out until the next day, someone messaged me saying they had a NM copy for sale. Needless to say I jumped at it and it ended up being about $150 less than my highest bid. So I guess I scored
